A holiday to Tenerife has long been a favoured travel destination of the British tourist. It is the largest of the Canary islands and tourists have flocked there over the past 50 years to take in the warm weather and idyllic scenery. Those who have been there on vacation were no doubt impressed with the sheer amount of beauty on display.
What To Do In Tenerife
Visitors can spend their afternoons wandering about the cute shops and restaurants situated close to Playa de la Arena or soaking up the sun on world famous beaches such as Playa de Las Teresitas, where the golden sand and clear blue sea is on par with anything found in this part of the world. However, this fantastic little island has so much more to offer than days getting sunburned and nights getting leathered: fans of history (and indeed ‘agriculture’) may want to check out the famed Pyramids of Guimar, and its not every day you get to take a trip to a volcano either, so surely a quick pit-stop to Teide National Park would be in order for those with an interest in the Earth’s natural wonders.
Weather In Tenerife
When travelling to Tenerife it’s important to pack light. You aren’t likely to need your wooly jumper and long johns in this part of the world. We strongly advise you to take flip-flops (even if, like me, you despise wearing
them) as the sand gets incredibly hot by the late morning and you wont want to step on it barefoot – trust us.
When to travel to Tenerife
We strongly urge you to travel to this historic and beautiful island during the months of May, June & July for these are the months just prior to the August rush, when all the tourists flock there to redden themselves and eat English food at the numerous English cafes and bars, and also because the weather is absolutely perfect at this time of year – its the start of the summer yet there is still a refreshing sea breeze to dry the hairline and brow.
Where to fly from
The island is easily accessible, too, even for us Brits! Flights leave just about every day from Bristol, London, Manchester, Newcastle & Edinburgh, and the prices are typically very fair, indeed averaging at about £50 for a
return ticket (and often available for much less if you have an eye for a deal), so what are you waiting for!?
